It's Christmas Time in the City!!

This Christmas was a mixed bag for the Young's. It started out GREAT! We went to Corvallis on Saturday to celebrate with the bunch down there. We all had so much fun. It was a nice relaxing trip with no to-do's for once...although I did have to go to work for a little while. Anyways, Christmas was in the air for sure down there. Bev had the house all decorated and music playing when we arrived. We went downstairs to watch the Muppet's Christmas movie which the girls loved and I got a nap. Then we continued the tradition of King Tin for Christmas dinner. I LOVE THAT PLACE. After dinner Jason and his dad went to pick up some chiropractic equipment that Jason had found for sale (he will be done with school in 6 months), Teri watched the girls and I helped Bev with some final holiday wrapping. We then met for the traditional Christmas reading and gift exchange. Sadly, I don't have any pictures down there of the festivities as we shot mostly video, but trust me, it was fun!! The girls LOVED opening the presents...Taylor more than Rilee. Rilee would just take them once they were opened. So thanks for the good time Gene Young's :)

On Sunday we went to church with my folks. We were a bit worried about the girls and their adjusting to nursery, but I guess what they say is true...the church is the same everywhere. The girls went right in and Jason and I were able to enjoy the Christmas lessons. I was amazed. Then we went to my parents house to get ready for Christmas Eve dinner. This was the first time in a long time that my sister and her family (minus Jessica and Gage), Michael and his family and us had been together for Christmas. Although my brother was sicker than a dog, he and his family made it. Dinner was great and Jason was able to say something that he never thought he would be able to say "Please pass the Prime Rib"!! The food was amazing!!

Monday we got up and did our Christmas with the girls. Taylor had been holding her hand up to her ear all night Sunday night asking if we heard Santa. So she was pumped to see that he had eaten his cookies and left her some gifts. The kids are so fun!! They really make Christmas. We then headed to our traditional Christmas breakfast. We always open our stocking and Santa gifts then mom made us get showered and shined because she hated when all our Christmas pictures were of us looking all nasty :) So that's fun. After a great breakfast at Shari's, we opened gifts at my folks. This is what all my pictures are of. I just could not believe all the gifts that were passed out...granted my sister had brought all of her gifts up...but still, it was INSANE!!! After gifts and a light lunch we laid around.

Jason had been feeling a bit tired, warm, cold, snotty...all of the above. It started Christmas eve, but we thought he just needed some rest...well no. We ended up in the emergency room on Christmas. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! It ended up he has the Flu...strain A. It has since begun it's cycle through the family. While it stinks to be sick on Jason break from school, it's nice to get it done so that when it's time for him to go back, we will all be healthy.

Anyways, so that's the mixed bag Christmas. We had a blast, but it stinks that Jason was so sick.

If you got through this blog...good on you. Sorry for the long winded blog, but it will serve us well as far as remembering stuff.

Aaaaannnnnd We are Back

After a little break from blogging, we are back and going strong. Our lives have just been so super busy that major holidays have past and I haven't gotten photos up for all to see. Sorry about that.

Anyways, we have had Halloween. The girls and Jason dressed up for the Halloween party at WSCC the Friday before Halloween. Taylor was a chicken, Rilee a cow and Jason dressed up as Old "Black"Donald. They were super cute. I had to work at the massage clinic that night, so I wasn't able to participate in the festivities this year :( The actual day, the 31st, we dressed the girls up and took them trick or treating. It was so much fun. They LOVED it!! After every door Taylor would yell "Mommy, LOOK! I got Candy!!" She's just so cute.

Thanksgiving this year was great. We kicked off the holiday by spending the day with Jason's family. This was the first time in 7 years that his whole family has been together so it was an awesome thing to be part of. We did family pictures, played with cousins, ate lots of snacks and did our "thankful fors". It was great. We ended up leaving there at about 5:00. Yes, we missed dinner, but we had to make it down to Roseburg before bed time. Once we got to Roseburg, it was dessert time and lots more playing. On Friday we had Thanksgiving dinner with my family. It was so nice. I'm so glad they postponed their Thanksgiving dinner so that we could be a part of it. Boy are we blessed with great families!!

It was a nice break. We needed a little change of pace. Roseburg gave us just the right amount of family, rest and fun. Taylor and Rilee love the property that Drea has. They went exploring, rode on the riding lawn mower, rode with Bryce in his John Deere, and took turns in the wagon. This time that they were occupied with their Aunt Drea and cousin Bryce, Jason and I were able to hit up some of the Black Friday sales!! YIPPEEE!!! Jason then went to see the new Bond movie and the kids and I with my family went to see the Festival of Lights. It was awesome. What a great way to start off the Christmas season.

Sorry if this seems so random. We are catching up on our shows that we missed while we were gone. Grey's Anatomy...Love it

Video Trouble

So I've gotten a couple e-mails from people saying that they can't get the videos to load. I'm not sure what's causing the problem, but I'll have my "geek squad" (Jason) check it out when he gets home from school today. Please leave us comments as to whether or not you were able to view the videos. We are able to see them...so I'm not sure what's going on!

For Jason's break we decided to do a quick day trip to Seattle. From our place to the city is about a 3 hour trip, so we loaded the van with lots of movies, snacks and books. The girls did pretty well as far as traveling goes. We stopped twice on the way up for "run around" breaks, which helped keep us all sane. Once we reached Seattle, we did the Space Needle, an amusement park and Pike's Place Market. We headed home at about 6:00, but made a detour to IKEA!!! I LOVED that store. We spent probably 2 hours in there just gawking at everything. By the time we got home it was almost 11:30 and the girls were up and singing "The Wheels on the Bus". All in all, it was a great trip...quick, but fun!!

So today we headed out to Sauvie Island to find our way through a corn maze there. It was such a blast. We got there right before it closed so I think there was just us and one more family in there together. Taylor had a blast since she got to walk the entire way and carry her umbrella...even though it wasn't raining. Jason said it was like following Mary Poppins through a corn field. Probably her favorite part of the entire trip was an hour long game of hide and seek that her and I played with Jason and Rilee. Anyways, that's our latest adventure. Here's pics to prove it :).

Finally an Update

Thanks to Tamara Smith, we now have an update with Pictures!! Thanks for the reminder Tamara :)

Well lot's has happened since our last post. Both girls have had birthdays. Taylor tuned 2 on the 18th of July and Rilee turned 1 on August 14th. We celebrated pretty much the entire month long. We kicked of the parties with a "zoo party". We took a bunch of the girls's friends and thier families to the zoo, where Abby painted the kids's faces and we joined a million other kids for a fun day of gawking, crying and laughing. After we looked at all we could look at we met back at our place for pizza and cupcakes. We all had a blast. Within the next few weeks we had a party here at the house for each of the girls, plus a party with my folks and Jason's. Not to long after the girls's parties, we had one for me!!! So we've just been partying it up lately :)


The past couple of months we have finished up another quarter of chiropractic school, had a week long break, and are back in the saddle again. Jason is doing great in school. He had is best term yet as far as grades go and it was his hardest and busiest. So we are all feeling really proud of him. He's started his 9th quarter with a bang. Everyday he's been at the school from 7:00 to 7:00. It makes for long days for me and the girls, but we are getting back in our schedule and adjusting.

The girls are doing great. Taylor is hilarious. At dinner tonight her and Jason were telling "knock knock" jokes. She had no idea what was really going on, but she loved that we were cracking up at her. So it was fun. Rilee is so quite lately. She kinda sits in the background and observes her wild family. When she does decied to join in the "craziness" she jumps in with both feet. It's so much fun. We had a dance party today to the 80's music and Rilee got on her little princess skirt and was dancing with the best of them. Boy do I love these little girls.

Oh and both curly heads got their first haircuts. Rilee's little fly-aways finally got chopped off. It's amazing how different she looks. Taylor looks pretty much the same...just a bit tighter curls.

Well the pictures don't seem to be loading with this blog. I'm gointg to try and do a post of just the pics and see if it works.

Anyways, that's a bit of an update on us. Hope all is well with you and yours!!

RILEE WALKS

The race to see who would walk sooner officially came to a close today. Last year on Father's Day Taylor began walking at just 335 days old. Ladies and Gentlemen, today Rilee scored her first ever victory walking at an even 305 days.

Jason's A Baldy

So today is June 13th, the day that the supporters of my cousin Cami were to shave their heads. We found out a couple of weeks ago that she is going through chemotherapy for breast and thyroid cancer. To show support, some of the guys in our family have shaved their heads and become "baldies" to help raise money for Cami's medical bills. So back to Jason showing his support...well this morning he woke up at 6:45 and said "Today is the Day"!! I was still kinda out of it, so I had no idea what he was talking about. All the sudden I hear the clippers going in the bathroom. I ran in to take some pictures and see if he was really going to do it. So I don't have a before shot, but there are some "in progress" and after shots for all to enjoy. I guess he's gotten some comments at school regarding his new haircut. He said people start out giving him a hard time but once he explained why he did it and that it's not just a haircut gone wrong, people feel kinda bad. So he's having a good time letting people feel bad for teasing him :)

Happy Rose Festival Parade!!

Today we went to the Junior Rose Festival Parade in the Hollywood district. It was such a blast. The entire parade consisted of little kids, school bands and clubs that are around the Portland area. We went with a few mom's and kids that live here in our complex. We had such a blast! Here are a few pics! Enjoy!

Jason is a SuperStar!

This week has been one full of GREAT news! First of all, we found out that Jason past his first round of National Boards. How exciting. It was amazing to see how relieved both Jason and I were. Not that we really had any doubt that he would pass, but just the relief in knowing that he did for sure. The next exciting news that we had was finding out that Jason had been elected as the Student Body President again for this next year. This position takes him away from the family kinda a lot, but he absolutely loves being involved. For those of you that know him, this shouldn't come as a surprise to you. So he will serve as the president for the remaining time that he is at chiropractic school. It's crazy to think that we are that close to being finished. The last piece of good news came when we found out that Jason had gotten an A on his first midterm this quarter. So he's off to a good start. It appears that all our good news is about Jason this week. The girls and I will work hard to have some for you next week :)

Actually, Rilee does have exciting news. She is crawling EVERYWHERE. She's so fast too. I was trying to sweep the other day and she made it to my pile of dirt before I even knew she was in the kitchen. She's also mastered the stairs. Jason said that the girls had races up and down the stairs last night, so that's fun.

Spring Break until Now!

WOW! We have had a busy past few weeks. Jason had his spring break for 2 weeks. The first week he went to DC to lobby for chiropractors. Then we had a week to play. And did we ever play. We jammed that week full of stuff. It started with a trip to the Oregon Zoo! Taylor's favorite is the fish and monkey's. We went and hiked TO THE TOP of Multnomah Falls. I had Rilee in a front pack and Jason had Taylor in a back pack. Needless to say, we were both pretty sore for a couple days after that. We also went to Roseburg to visit my sister and her family. What a blast! Taylor LOVES to play with her cousin Bryce and his dog Burt. We visited Corvallis as well. That stop included a pre-Easter egg hunt for the girls. Taylor absolutely loved it. That was pretty much our week of spring break. Then it came time for getting back into the swing of things. Jason's schedule at school keeps him there from about 7:30 to 6:00 everyday. That took some adjusting, but I think the girls and I are back into a routine, so hopfully this quarter goes by just as fast as the last few have.

Easter was so fun. We had our formal Easter dinner at my folks on Saturday with all of my family, and then Sunday we went back for leftovers and an Easter egg hunt. My mom has a way different idea of what should be in Easter eggs. Both Taylor and Bryce got about $50 each plus candy! I wish she would have thought to put money in the eggs when I was little :).

As for an update on the girls: Rilee is full on crawling everywhere. I think she's teething...like all of her teeth at once. So she's had a bit of an attitude, but what girl in our family doesn't right? Taylor is SUPER into Shrek and Nemo! It's so cute to watch her emotions change with the dynamics of the movie. So fun! We also have a patch of grass out in the middle of our complex that we meet about 10 other kids and their mom's to play each night. It's amazing to watch my little baby girl interact with other kids. I guess she's not so little anymore. It's nice for me because I get to have normal conversations with other moms for awhile.

So that's an update of the past few weeks for us. I'll put up some pictures later. It's not letting me attach them to this blog. Wierd!
