He Thinks My Belly's Sexy

Sorry for all the conversation blog posts, but sometimes you just have to record these things. We do have some fun pictures to throw up here and that will be happening soon.

At dinner tonight Taylor was sitting by me and Rilee was across the booth with Jason.

Taylor: (rubbing my belly) "Mom, your belly is really big and fat."

Me: "Thanks Taylor...I think."

I throw a look to Jason like "should I be offended that my daughter just called me fat"?

Jason, (playing Poker on his iPhone) looks at me and says: "At least she's honest."

I'm sure he meant that in the most loving way...right?

Taylor Strikes Again

Tonight on the way up the stairs to go to bed we were playing "Police Woman". Taylor was the police and Rilee and I (Jason) were the criminals. Our conversation went like this:

Taylor: You bad guys come with me!

Me: We didn't do it! Why are we under arrest?

Taylor: You blew the house down and now you're going to jail.

Rilee: We want our lawyers!

Me: Yeah you heard Rilee, we're lawyering up!

Taylor: Well all of the lawyers died when the house blew down. You're going to jail!

Me & Rilee: But we didn't do it!

Taylor: Well when the house blew down we saw somebody with a black face.... that must be you.

So she has the makings of a great cop. Don't you wish that your child was this aware of complex race issues and social injustice?

Baby Boy Brother or Baby Girl Sister

My old boss stopped in at the clinic a couple weeks ago. Taylor was playing computer games and Rilee was painting. The conversation went like this:

Paul: Hey Girls! Do you want a Baby Boy Brother or a Baby Girl Sister?

The girls: (yelling) A Baby Sister!

Paul: Why not a Baby Brother?

Taylor: I don't want a Baby Boy Brother with a black face!

Makes sense, the only one with a black face in our family is a boy :)

A Typical Friday Afternoon

Things here at the clinic ALWAYS get a little nuts after we are done with patients on Friday. Some weeks are worth posting about. Here's a couple:

The latest crazy Friday was last week when Josh and Jason had a Emergen-C contest. Each of them opened the packet and threw back the entire pack, no water.

Then the girls wanted to give it a shot!

Halloween Cookies at Grandma and Grandpa's!

This last weekend we were able to go to Portland and play. Well the girls and I got to play. Jason had a CCSP conference that he attended, but we shopped and did all the fun things we could pack into the two days.

We stomped in puddles on the deck (however small they may be)

We made Halloween sugar cookies

And lots of other stuff that I don't have pictures for (puzzles, books, shopping, coloring, more shopping etc.)

Taylor called Grandma today and told her that she wanted to live on her planet. Safe to say, we all had a fabulous time!

Super Sale

I had to let you all know about a great deal that is going on at Albertson's. If you go in and buy 6 of the Powerade's that are currently on sale for $.69 (I think it's the 1 liter size), it will print out a coupon for $4.00 off of the 6. Leaving your grand total to be a whopping $.14. Can you believe that 6 Powerades for FOURTEEN CENTS!!! It's awesome. I've gone back a couple of times and I think we have a total of like 42 bottles now. This last time we went I just used all the change in my car. The sale applies to the new Powerade Zero as well.

I think this is a store wide thing because the guy that was bagging my 24 bottles told me that his buddy in Springfield called him about it. So go and check it out. It's worth a try right?!?!

Cloth Diapers, To Be or Not To Be?

I'm thinking I could do this. Ask me a few years ago and you would have gotten a different answer, but with all the amazingly easy products out there, I really think I could do it. I've seen cloth diapers that look and function like a disposal diaper. Maybe it's being back in Corvallis and the "green" town that it is, but I think if I can use cloth just as easy as disposable, why not?!?!

I do have a few questions though.

1. How nasty is it...HONESTLY? Remember, I will have a newborn and their "awesome" poops, so I won't be able to just dump and flush...right?!?!?!

2. What about laundering them? What secrets have you cloth diapering mom's found?

3. What brand(s) do you recommend and why? Taylor seems to have pretty sensitive skin, but Rilee is okay, so who knows how this baby will be. I've read online about certain brands losing absorbency, liners that crack and Velcro that rubs on the tummy.

4. I know that overall cloth diapers would save us money no matter which brand we go with, but what's considered a "good deal". I'm not thinking that ebay is really an option given the nature of the product...or should I??

I think that's enough questions for this post. But if you have any other advice that you can think of, please SHARE!!!
