This year, like every other year, we were in Portland for Easter. It was a bit different because we were so busy seeing friends and family along with a date night and haircut!! So lots going on, but we had so much fun!!
We did our Easter festivities on Saturday so that my sister and her family could come up and play with us. It was so fun! I seriously have the funnest family around!!!
The kids loved their Easter egg hunt. Each of the girls walked away with over $30 for their savings accounts. My mom is crazy! Each egg had not only candy, but a toy and money as well. It was so fun!! I can't even count the number of times we've painted the girls's nail since Saturday. They love their nail polish!

Here's some good news...
So my mom got to come home from the hospital yesterday. Trust me she was more than ready to get out of there. Now we start the long process of recovery. We did a thorough cleaning of her house to eliminate any dust that would hurt her lungs. We had a hospital bed and various breathing equipment delivered as well. I think that being out of the hospital will be a huge boost from her in large part because now she can watch movies on her 60" plasma rather than a dinky 10"x10" LCD panel. :)
Yesterday we showed up in a stretch limo to pick her up from the hospital. She was really surprised and kept saying, "This is insane. This is insane." I found out on the way home that this was her first limo ride ever. We had all of the kids and grandkids in there with her (maybe that's what she though was insane.)
Thanks to all of you who have fasted and prayed. She always comments that she can feel all of the love and support. She feels like her condition is improving too. SO IT'S WORKING! Also thanks to those of you who have left comments for her or for us. We feel so blessed to have good friends who support us. We will gladly return the favor when you are in need. Thanks to those of you who have read but are not the type to post a comment or send an e-mail but have spared a kind thought on our behalf. I believe that makes a difference too. The people who have written messages for my mom: I have compiled what I have so far and I will be delivering those to her tonight.
Ok.... Time to get to work.

More info on Mom
So there is some good news since I last posted. The results of mom's CT showed that she actually has primary lung cancer which is a big shock since she is not a smoker. The cancer has also spread to parts of her spine. In a way this is good news because that means that no other major organs have been affected. The other good news is that her MRI showed no tumors in her brain.
More good news is that there are some treatment options. Tonight she started chemotherapy and hopefully she will be home by Monday. The prognosis is better than we expected too. Cancer is scary and you wonder when you might lose someone whether it's days, weeks or what. For mom it could be months or years.
As for the family we are all coming off of the initial shock. I think that we have all done a really good job of coming together and supporting each other. We all have role that we need to fill and everyone is doing their jobs. Personally after a good adjustment from a friend and some massage and the pleasure of treating patients I have been able to move past my sadness, fear and dispair. My mom is still here and I realize that all of the sadness or bad feelings in the world will not help her. However, positive energy, hope and working smart can help her to have the best shot at extending her life and enjoying that time. I realize that some of you know my mom personally and I would encourage you to move beyond the sorrow too. We need your positivity and prayers and hope as well.
I'm confident that a miracle will happen. That miracle maybe one that saves her life but maybe not. I know that the miracle that is happening right now is that we are rediscovering my mom. If you know her you know that she is a bit of a crazy lady. :) In the last couple of days I am starting to understand the method to the madness. I mentioned in an earlier post that she cares too much and helps a little much. I'm finding out that this is because my mom has so much love to give. I've been so close to it my whole life that I could never recognize that the way I do now. But now the threat of losing it is making me understand just how strong that love is.
Please, if you have a thought or message for my mom, please e-mail it to us at: jason_mandy_young@hotmaili.com we are printing and compiling them. She will need all kinds of support to make it throught the challenges that are still ahead. Thanks again!
